When and where will the Marathon at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics take place?
The Marathon competition at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games is scheduled for the 10th (Men’s) and 11th (Women’s) of August, 2024 across the city of Paris.
Where can you buy tickets for the Marathon at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics?
Tickets are not needed to watch the marathon race. Simply find a spot along the Olympic marathon course route and cheer on the competitors.
Are you a marathon runner – but not an Olympian? Paris 2024 organizers have put together a special marathon race for people (as in amateur runner-types) who would like to run the course. Called the “Marathon Pour Tous” or “Marathon for All” – this mass participation race will be held at 9 pm on August 10 (between the men’s and women’s races) with varied ways to enter.
Where is the best place to stay to see the Marathon at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics?
The Olympic marathon start is at the Hôtel de Ville and the finish is at the Esplanade des Invalides. Anywhere in between the two sites is your best bet – and preferably along the course route so you don’t have to go far to see the action.
The good news? Both locations are perfectly situated in the heart of downtown Paris. The Hôtel de Ville is on the right bank of the Seine River just across the bridge from the Notre Dame Cathedral. The Esplanade des Invalides is on the left bank of the Seine just a few kilometers from the Eiffel Tower. The right bank refers to the areas north of the River Seine in Paris whereas the left bank refers to the areas south.
The bad news? This area of Paris can be very expensive to stay in. And that’s if you can find lodging.
But… As the Marathon will be one of the last events of the Olympics (the Closing Ceremony is also on the 11th), there is a chance some folks will have already left Paris and rooms will be available. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you.
