Where’s the best place as a spectator to watch the race? According to F1’s official site it’s the the first turn at Tarzan, or near one of the banked turning corners, either at Arie Luyendijkbocht (the final turn on the track) or Hugenholtzbocht. You might recognize those last two names for their connections to Dutch car racing history.
Where is the best place to stay overnight to watch F1 Dutch Grand Prix racing at Zandvoort?
The best place to stay overnight to watch Formula 1 at Zandvoort is probably in Haarlem (to the east of the racetrack in the direction of Amsterdam). However, lodging options in Haarlem are limited…and there will be even less around the Grand Prix dates.
If you plan to drive yourself, consider staying on the western edge of Amsterdam to cut your commute. Using public transport opens up options in Amsterdam proper with a slightly longer ride. The Canal District (Grachtengordel in Dutch) is a popular choice. If you stay near Amsterdam Central (Centraal) Station you can take the train directly to Zandvoort’s train station.
How do you get to the Circuit Zandvoort? Are public transport options available?
The address for the Circuit Zandvoort is: Burgemeester van Alphenstraat 108, 2041 KP Zandvoort, Netherlands
The racetrack is reachable by public transportation and usage is recommended by the racetrack to avoid traffic jams.
The Circuit’s official site has a pretty good rundown of parking, public transportation options and advice on how to get there. A few key points: 1) be mindful that the track is located near the beach so there can be competition for parking on days with good weather; 2) there is a direct train connection from Amsterdam, Haarlem, and Den Haag to Zandvoort – from there it is a 10 minute walk to the circuit; and 3) there is also a bus route that can access the circuit from Zandvoort proper, Haarlem and Amsterdam.
