La Madeleine Church (L’église de la Madeleine) is a famous Parisian Roman Catholic church founded by Napoleon to honor the glory of the French Army. It is Located in the 8th arrondissement and named after Mary Magdalene. La Madeleine is unique compared to other French places of worship with many visitors noting its resemblance to the Parthenon in Athens, Greece or the Pantheon in Rome, Italy. It is located just a few blocks north of the Place de la Concorde and Jardin des Tuileries.
